I believe this is not a magit question but I hope it would not offend anyone.

How do you create a new file within a git project? I've found that if I open a
new file and edit it, I will start to have the backup files and also git will
not know about it. I will have to add it.

If I do vc-next-action (C-x v v), now git knows about it but emacs will still
create the backup files.

I have to delete the buffer and reopen the file and now emacs will know not to
create backup files.

Is this what others do? Or is there a simpler approach?

Thank you,
Perry Smith
