Providing "<remote>/<local-name>" as a *complication candidate* is the best Magit can currently do, mostly because there might be more than one remote and Magit doesn't know whether you prefer "origin/<local-name>" or "yourfork/<local-name>". Instead you might want to give Ido a try, to make the completion less painful (here and everywhere else where you have to complete something).
