I can't comment on gerrit yet, but I thought I'd second what Francois said in 2011. There's a growing school of thought about passwords that as an alternative to forcing people to enter strings with lowercase, capitals, numbers, and punctuation marks, you should allow people to enter very long strings of dictionary words.
