As the IE problem was solved by the merging of focuslocker patch - try testing patch https://reviews.mahara.org/#/c/3490/ to see if it solves the problem for 1.9

You can only change the table background and border color via the GUI, but not change the number of columns and rows and use the dropdown menus. Everything works fine in TinyMCE when you do the same editing in a journal entry or in a page description. It just seems to be the text boxes that have the difficulty. I tested it on demo.mahara.org using Windows 7.
