It looks more like we need to tidy up the code a bit as we have in
group_get_menu_tabs() both
safe_require('interaction', $plugin->name);
$plugin_menu =
call_static_method(generate_class_name('interaction', $plugin->name),
'group_menu_items', $group);
$menu = array_merge($menu, $plugin_menu);
and
safe_require('artefact', $plugin->name);
$plugin_menu =
call_static_method(generate_class_name('artefact',$plugin->name), 'group_tabs',
$group->id);
$menu = array_merge($menu, $plugin_menu);
calling either 'group_menu_items' or 'group_tabs'
We should make this more generic and have all plugins, maybe only from
an array eg (artefact,interaction,module) to be checked for 'group_tabs'
functions

Similar to the interaction plugin types allow modules to
add/edit/remove items within group instance navigations.
This is a useful extension for adding contributed modules.
