Looking into this:

The most likely way to handle this is with a cron job to run once a week
and remove older friend requests that are over so many days old (maybe
30).

We would need to add some text to the request page to let a user know
the request will expire if not actioned in time.

A question would be - do we then email the requester to let them know
the request expired or just do it silently?

Title:
Delete friend requests when people don't action them

Status in Mahara:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When you request friendship of someone else, you see the friendship
that you requested. However, when they don't bother accepting or
denying them, they are sticking around cluttering the "My friends"
  page.

It would be good if you could revoke friend requests that you've made
  one-by-one but also in bulk.
