To test/verify this stand up a Mahara instance with Elasticsearch 6 as the search engine.
Then index and search will use this library. However... The library is invoked via make_client() in htdocs/search/elasticsearch/lib.php[1] The updates for this are only triggered if ['client']['verify'] or ['client']['decode_content'] are passed in and setConnectionParams() doesn't appear to do that. Having said that, this may be modified in later areas but I've been unable to locate where that may be happening.
