Hmm, odd. Your theme is different to the theme directory from the 1.4rc1 release found at https://launchpad.net/mahara/+milestone/1.4rc1
I have uploaded a new theme directory (made from that release file). Hopefully it should solve your issues. Do you know why it would be different? How did you go about the upgrade process to 1.4rc1? If you can manage to highlight these two small dots they actually behave as the find button does. These dots do not appear in FireFox or Chrome, making me think this is a styling issue.
