I was afraid (and almost sure) it wouldn't, but I was hoping that with your
knowledge of the code you could get a hint of what was happening.

It doesn't seem to be due to a particular message or viewer.
It starts to loop immediately after downloading the messages, possibly
during filtering them from the POP3 folder into one of my folders and
before coming up with the 'tips of the day' screen.

I have the impression it could be a 'wide loop', i.e. a very large one in
terms of code involved, because of the fact that interrupting/continuing in
gdb at different times shows different code (stack traces).

The only thing I can do is try to find out more if it happens again.
