 Because it's impossible to really close it then.

 No, but I believe you that it behaves like this. It's just that I think
it's a bug - and not a feature as you apparently do.

 It would, of course, but it would be even better to make the accelerators
customizable... With GTK you can, of course, simply press F5 on the menu
item to make it work - until the restart, that is.
