The main problem with the The Bat's approach is that it uses the old PGP email standard (the "BEGIN PGP ..." markers in the text) and not the new MIME-based one and I believe that only the latter is important for the future. For example, I see no need to produce the messages in old format even if it might be nice to be able to read them.
