The minimum is RFC2822 (Internet Message Format). We have full support
for RFC2045-2049 (MIME series). We have some support (on receiving part)
for RFC3156 (MIME Security with OpenPGP). M uses mailing-list headers as
per RFC2369 (or is it RFC2929 (List-Id) that we use? I did not check).

I did not check the transport part (POP, IMAP, SMTP)...

Some features could be thought as 'nice to have' (message/partial,
format=flowed), but there does not seem to be a high demand for them.
Better have drag-and-drop for moving folder, and all the other bells and
whitles that actually simplify user's life...
