I finally worked out (more or less) what happened. I run a Win2K Pro SP3+ system with IE 6.0 as the brtowser and use Proxomitron 4.5 as the HTTP proxy to avoid the usual stuff likes ads etc. I use Download Accelerator Pro for my download proxy as IE does not support resume. When I gave that URL to IE, it passed it on to DAP which for all it's life has been doing its work through Proxo. This time, for the first time, what happened is the SQL .bz2 ended getting a Proxo prefix / suffix attached to the file which of course the uncompressor did not understand <sigh> Live and learn! :-( I have now gotten the file again and it is uncompressed. I just have ot get MySQL up and running ang figure out what to do with it :-) Thanks for giving me the idea where to look!
