Hi (Robert), I don't know if you can debug it but I've just noticed that it is now impossible to reply to a message written in a non-Latin encoding under Windows because all foreign characters are replaced with question marks in the text.
I really don't have time to look at this now (I've just got back from work and must now pack quickly and be off to catch my plane tomorrow early in the morning...) but I suspect that you didn't use wxTextAttr (look at wx/textctrl.h + text sample + TextViewer implementation) in your code.
