But now I notice that they are slowing down. Maybe it is related to
wxWindows 2.5, but I have no proof of that. One note though, all the code
we are running is full of debugging checks. It might be worth profiling
someday. I am sure that those checks are often unnecessarily expensive.
Running them shouldn't be luxury.

This is not used nor modified during filtering. It is modified when you
click on message, AFAIK.
