Yes.

The content of the folder is displayed in the folder list right from
start. The problem was that due to some unexplained bug, the selected
folder would most always *not* be the correct one, but seem to be chosen
randomly (at least here on Windows).

Now the selected folder is the correct one. It is just not opened.

Why wouldn't there be an opened folder at start?  This seems quite
reasonable to me...

Having the default folder be the root of the tree could be a way to not
open a folder at start, for those that do not want this feature.
