Hi Guys,

For a long time I have been complaining about the Mahogany Options screen
under Linux. Since I haven't had M working under Windows for years I
presumed the problems existed there too. However, having loaded the latest
online Windows version, I see that the options screen there works fine
which explains why nobody did anything about my problems ;-)

Today I did a bit of playing to figure the extent of problems. This is what
I found using current HEAD M & wxWidgets cvs builds on a Gentoo system with
KDE 3.5.1 and Gnome 2.12 / gtk 2.8.12

First under KDE:

I have my taskbar at the bottom of the screen. If I minimize it, M resizes
to take up the space and sizes smaller if I bring the taskbar back. If I
edit preferences however, The bottom of the preferences window is off the
bottom of the screen and nothing changes if you vanish / restore taskbar.
Using Als-Space, you cannot move the window at all and the only thing you
can resize is the right edge of the window down to some preset size after
which is will not get narrower. The bottom 10-15% of the prefs cannot be
gotten on screen at all meaning you cannot click the Apply / OK buttons and
the Alt-O does not seem to work IIRC. As such, you cannot save any changes
you make to preferences since the OK button doesn't seem to retain focus
correctly at all times - sometimes Help seems to get the focus for some
treason I didn't figure out.

If you set the font size for the folder list (say to 8pt), the tree
doesn't change at all from the existing ?12pt setting even if you close /
restart M. This makes it very tedious with many folders.

Under Gnome:

You cant seem to make the taskbar disappear so I didnt test this.

The Prefs screen is still far too tall although using alt-space move you
can move it upwards to get apply / OK on screen.

12pt unchanged folder list text size here too :-(

HTH
