I'd obviously welcome any improvements in M functionality. In the "worst" case having news reading support alongside the existing functionality would be already nice. In the best case, maybe the current UI for the mail folders could be improved too in the process. So I'd definitely welcome any contributions but it would be better to discuss them first.
