 Are the translations there? It is normally supposed to find the de ones if
LANg is de_DE (i.e. discard the second part). Are you running the debug
version or not? If yes, you could set the env var WXTRACE to "i18n" and
then you'd get some messages on the console telling you where is it looking
for the message catalogs.
