In advanced mode, there is a Folder Subtype selection list near the bottom of
the Folder -> Create dialog box.  In novice mode, you get the same
dialog box by selecting "Don't use wizard" in the first create dialog box.

Set your User level by selecting it in Edit -> Preferences -> Identity ->
User level.

.DEFAULT should only affect system accounts.

A conversion utility isn't really necessary since a simple move can
accomplish the conversion once you create the mailbox.

My mail search Perl script can read either MBX or MBOX files and outputs
to MBX.  Run 'perldoc mbx_find.pl for instructions.
