I have tried to say a little more carefully what constitutes
rudeness when it comes to HTML mail:

As for top posting, despite strong feelings on the subject,
I have never seen a comparable set of considerations.
My own view is that top posting above a long piece of quoted
material is logical, as long as it is logical to include a
long piece of quoted material.
