Because focus does not shift back to the folder view
in this case, so the next keystrokes apply to the
viewer selection dialogue. My personal experience
is that this only happens by accident and is never
desired.

Note that the problem arises in part because the viewer
selection list opens downward.

Here is yet another proposal. When a viewer is selected,
could focus be automatically returned to the folder view?
This would be a complete fix, I think.

I also like this, but there shd be a keystroke to get in and
out. Sometimes it is desirable to select and copy text from
a msg, and afterwards there shd be a quick (non-mouse) exit.

Related to this, is it currently possible to ask Mahogany to
display the raw msg text in the editor of my choice rather
than in what I assume is Mahogany's text viewer? (I.e., to
change the behavior of ctrl-z in this way.)

And since I'm so loquacious today, let me explore another
idea: can we have a faster way to move through the raw msg
txt w/o reaching for the mouse? (Currently ctrl-z shows the
raw msg text with focus on the Close button, and it takes
two ctrl-tab strokes to enter the main window. I think
putting focus on the main window would be better, as long as
hitting <esc> would still close the window, and then tabbing
should cycle through the buttons *and* the main window.) In
other words, after ctrl-z: i. focus would be in the main
window, so that one can immediately either a. page down or
b. tab to the Save button, but ii. <esc> would (as now)
immediately close the window. It seems to me this either
reduces or leaves unchanged the number of keystrokes
required for every action. Fwiw.

Cheers,
Alan
