I regret that I cannot report a way to reliably reproduce this, but it is important enough that I think I shd report it anyway.
Occasionally Mahogany will get into some kind of a loop which consumes CPU time and eventually leads to a freeze of Mahogany. The visible symptom is that one or more messages in the folder view begin to "flicker" very quickly. Often they will flicker a few seconds, then stop, then flicker a few more seconds, then stop, but the problem never seems to go away on its own. Changing folders often gets rid of the problem, if it is done early enough.
