Just another update on this, for whatever it might be worth. Today I deleted some of the mail from my SentMail folder and discovered that Print and PrintPreview now work in SentMail once again. Sorry I cannot investigate this more usefully, but I figure it is better to file the report than to simply ignore the occurence.
