Nobody uses Python and so nobody works on it neither and it has suffered from bit rot. We don't support newest (2.[23]) Python versions, I'm not sure if it still even builds under Windows and basically it's not really useful at all right now. This is really a pity because I do believe that having embedded Python interpreter would be a great thing (provided Mahogany also had many hooks to invoke it) but I simply can't work on it myself and no Python enthusiasts have yet manifested to take it over.
