Thanks!  I believe I have misrepresented the problem.
Apologies for that.

Key fact: I am using the text viewer? 

My request for print preview is simply ignored, and Mahogany
tells me the text viewer does not support print.

I am now guessing my memory is faulty and this problem
traces to my switch over to the text viewer; but didn't the
text viewer previously support printing?

I switched to the text viewer when I learned that the
default viewer was being scheduled for retirement.
I like the text viewer pretty well, but I shd be able
to print from it.  (Or to at least send the text to
a print utility.)
