Actually, your two messages probably could be combined as they are most likely the same problem. When M does a pop mail session, it first reads all of the messages from the pop server then when it has them all, it kills each of the received messages. If for some reason, the session fails before the complete transaction has been completed, messages will, by RFC, not be deleted from the server. Either way, M then puts the messages it did receive into folders. The second time you dial up, it then tries to read them all again and, as per your message succeeds. Finally the messages get deleted. Now I cannnot prove any of this but I will suggest it for what it is worth: My ISP uses MS s/w throughout AFAICT. Infrequently, I will be in a pop mail session which will die for some reason. If I try another mail session immediately, I get told the mailbox is locked by the server. If I wait a few seconds and try again, I get in and there is *always* more new mail than in the previous attempt. I am suspicious that somehow inbound mail to my mailbox is somehow causing the session to fail at the server. Maybe this is same as happening at your end?
