Mahogany's color picker is nice, but I think it could be much better by taking a page from the Vim book: use colorschemes.
How it would work: Instead of all the color selection stuff in the preferences for Message View, Folder View, and Folder tree, each would have a single option: pick colorscheme. In my view this gives an instant big plus in user interface. Colorschemes would hold the information currently gathered by the options in thes preferences. Colorschemes would be named and picked by name. Colorschemes would reside in a "colors" folder, which would always contain a scheme called "default". Custom color shemes would be created just like the color picking process currently in place, except that they would be saved to the "colors" folder. For consistency, the tool for this would be found in the menus as Edit/Colorschemes. A colorscheme could be opened and edited, and then saved under a new name. I think this would be very cool, and it would encourage the development and sharing of productivity enhancing colorschemes. fwiw, Alan PS Some of the needed color options seem to be missing from the folder tree preferences? ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: thawte's Crypto Challenge Vl Crack the code and win a Sony DCRHC40 MiniDV Digital Handycam Camcorder.
