Worldwide Pantnagar Alumni Association (WPAA)
Monthly Newsletter, May 2, 2002
------------------------------------------------
Greetings !

Exactly two years ago this month, WPAA was formed ! Hurray !

Time goes by fast and there were no exceptions this time too. I still remember the
email I sent out when we 'turned 50' - yes, we were all so excited about growing up
that a strength of mere 50 Pantnagar alumni was good enough a reason for us to
celebrate. It has just been about two years since the formation of WPAA and here we
are - a much stronger, stable and dedicated association of over 1000 Pantnagar alumni,
spread all over the globe.

It indeed is true - 'STRENGTH LIES IN THE NUMBERS'. The 'Fund Drive' that contributed
USD 3000/- towards Computer Engineering Department, College of Technology, could not
have been possible if it were not for the support and encouragement from all of you.
Thanks much.

Same holds true for all the other programs and initiatives that we have undertaken so
far - the Mentor Program and the WPAA Chapters, to name a couple. Again, the credit
goes to all those involved because if it were not for their commitment and enthusiasm,
these programs would not be here today. Keep it up, folks !

WPAA would like to continue to make all efforts to bring Pantnagar alumni together and
help them stay connected with their alma mater and friends. However, we do have to
realize and acknowledge the practical limitations we have in front of us - the
resource crunch ! With a handful of people trying their best to stabilize and keep it
going, WPAA could definitely use some help. Please come forward and offer your
services in whatever way you can - it would be greatly appreciated. Please write to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for more details.

Well, this would be the right time to remind you all, once again, that there is a
minimal annual fee associated with WPAA membership - Rs. 100/- or USD 12/-, as the
case may be. This fee helps us take care of all its maintenance expenses and also in
planning projects for the benefit of Pantnagar students and our alma mater. Please,
please, take a minute and send in your payments to any of the following two addresses
depending upon where you live. Further details are available at http://wpaa.org/

Mr. Girish Solanki ! Mr. Joseph Dolphin
Treasurer, WPAA ! Representative, WPAA

San Antonio, Texas, ! Rohini, Delhi - 110085
United States - 78229 ! India

I am working on accepting credit card payments through WPAA website but am running
behind schedule due to other commitments. However, if you tell me that you are waiting
for this facility to make your payments, I can promise you that I will have it up and
running in no time :-)

And finally, a reminder that we love to hear from you - your feedback, comments and
anything that you would like us to know, is highly appreciated. Please write to us at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Here are the tasks that WPAA is currently working on:

***1*** Fund Drive:
A sum of USD 3000 was collected for Computer Engineering Department, College of
Technology, during a 'Fund Drive' that lasted almost two years. The funds were
delivered to the then Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J. B Chowdhury in Feb, 2002. Head of
Computer Engineering Department, Prof. R N Mishra later informed us via an email that
a decision had been made to purchase a LCD projector for the department.

WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed towards
this 'Fund Drive' and helped it make a success.

***2*** WPAA Chapters:
If you are a Coordinator of a WPAA chapter, a member of another Pantnagar association
or know about one, please log your entry here and share it with rest of us. Also, do

other such web presence for your chapter.
