Worldwide Pantnagar Alumni Association (WPAA)
Monthly Newsletter, November 7, 2002
------------------------------------------------
Greetings !

Hope you all had a wonderful Diwali and are looking forward to an equally cheerful and
prosperous New Year. WPAA would like to wish you all the success and best of health
for this festival season.

As 2002 winds down, there are some important administrative issues that we would like
you to be aware of.

On the top of the list is the election for WPAA Executive Committee for year 2003. A
year later and about 1200 members strong, we are certainly in a much better position
today to set the ball rolling for putting this process in place. I will send out more
details about the dates and how exactly we will be proceeding in this regard but
meanwhile, if you are interested in being part of WPAA Executive Committee, or know
someone who you think should be, please send details to 'executives at wpaa dot org'.
There is no change in the structure of the committee and all the posts and
designations are same as the current ones, including 'Representatives'. WPAA bylaws
are also available online so that you can make yourself familiar with the existing
setup. I would like to encourage all of you to get actively involved in the process
and help us stay focused.

WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who were kind enough to
submit their membership fee and contributions for 2002. We greatly appreciate your
continued support and encouragement and request you to please make sure that your
payments are all accounted for in WPAA account book. To do so, please login at WPAA
web site (http://www.wpaa.org/) using your login and password and check under 'Edit
Account'. The date when we received your payment should show up next to the payment
if, we have indeed received your payment. In case of any questions, please feel free
to write to 'treasurer at wpaa dot org'.

GBPUAT is celebrating its Foundation Week from Nov 12 to Nov 17. On this occasion,
College of Agriculture will launch Alumni Association of College of Agriculture (AACA)
and a meeting of the alumni, amongst other set of activities on Nov 15, the College
day. You can read the complete text of the letter from Dean, College of Agriculture,
Prof. Ranvir Singh at http://www.wpaa.org/contrib/Alumni_letter.doc.

During the same week, College of Technology is celebrating its Foundation Day on Nov
13. Please visit WPAA web site to get complete details.

Another important project that I would request your active participation in is 'WPAA
Yearbook 2002'. Thanks to Somya Chaudhary, Home Science, 1987 batch, who was kind
enough to accept this responsibility of leading this project and putting it all
together. If everything goes as per the plan, you should have a copy in your mailbox
sometime in January, 2003. Please visit the WPAA home page to check out the complete
details and exact schedule. Also, feel free to write to her at 'yb2002 at wpaa dot
org' if you have any suggestions, comments or feedback.

Here are the tasks that WPAA has closely been involved in:

*** Fund Drive ***
A sum of USD 3000 was collected for Computer Engineering Department, College of
Technology, during a 'Fund Drive' that lasted almost two years. The funds were
delivered to the then Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J. B Chowdhury in Feb, 2002. Head of
Computer Engineering Department, Prof. R N Mishra later informed us via an email that
a decision had been made to purchase a LCD projector for the department.

WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed towards
this Fund Drive' and helped it make a success.
