Dear Sunjith and Anand,

sorry for the late reply. pls excuse me for my comments about free bsd, as i
am not an expert in software field. but i use only use free software and
use them extensively for my electronic related projects. the reason y i
installed FreeBSD might seem quite funny. my motherboard had been given for
a repair and i had another spare system with me but no OS installed. and the
Debian cd was with one of my friends and i could not get it. it was at this
time i got the FreeBSD 4.0 cd from binny. i needed my pc for some urgent
reading and typing stuff at that time. so i didnt care whether it was
Debian or BSD. after reading a few how tos i installed FreeBSD on my old
pc. i found the installation a bit difficult because i had to switch the 2
install cds a lot of times to complete the installation. may be because of
my inexperience or lak of properly reading the how tos. but after the
installation was complete with "boot0" the boot manager i happily booted
into my BSD machine. after that i used the pkg-add tool to install emacs,
links etc. i dont remember the full list as it was approx an year back and i
didnt have the time to document my activities. common apps like adduser and
mount were more user friendly. the man pages were funtastic. i liked their
approach of including man page for inbuilt shell commands like cd alias etc,
atleast new users wouldnt be confused and get a chance go gain more
knowledge.

thanks and regards,
Rajagopal V
