Dear Anup ,
First and foremost , thanks for your prompt reply . I was wondering if I
could get
the CD from you . I am staying in Cochin and shall be grateful if you could
give me
the CD for a day .
Which is the exact URL from which I can download Solaris for Intel ?
I was hunting around the site : sun.com/solaris and all they did was they
confused
me .

Thanks once again ,
([EMAIL PROTECTED])
Shyam

Solaris is System V compliant UNIX released by Sun Micsrosystems.

Yes , very much so.

Experience on Linux will help you go a long way on Solaris, but you may not
find it as user friendly as Linux and the number of softwares available for
Solaris for the purpose of geeking around is much less when compared to Linux.
But the good thing is that Sun is now releasing all their netscape suite of
products for free download so you can download and try them.

Hmmm,i.e. a difficult question for me to answer 'cause I have not worked on
anything except Linux and Solaris .There are some major differences primarily
because the SPARC version of Solaris has many advanced features such as Open
PROM command sets etc..

Solaris is rock steady on SPARC mainly because it SUn's own properietary
hardware

Solaris and almost all of Sun's software sare available for download
including Solaris for Intel (800 MB in size !!!!!).

But I think you can get a Solaris for Intel CD .

There is a HOWTO called Solaris+Linux+Windows 2000 HOWTO.Search for it.
