I may not be able to certify on any other software but the office suits. I use Star Office for preparing pleadings to the court. I have three machines. One on Win 95 and others on Linux. Soffice works perfect for both. It has almost all good features. But the memory requierment appear to be on the higher side. It starts up the entire suit and has its own desktop. Unlike MS Word you cannot start up the word processor alone. K Office permits you to do that. You can start KWord alone if that is all you want. It appeared comparatively lighter on the memory. I am using 128 MB of RAM on my linux systems. S OFfice works fine. there is a suit called abi. It is very light on the memory. But as I had earlier discussed on the group, the same is yet short of some vital functions.(like tables) (NB: I am not posted with details of the latest version of Abi Suit.
