Hi,
I can't enable Ultra DMA for my hard disk on my
VIA vt82c586b (rev 47) IDE UDMA33 controller based mother board
with Debian Potato with Kernel 2.2.19
if I enable it kernel will occasionally print the following
message at the console and disk operations during that
time will hang for a while.
Feb 5 16:08:03 enon kernel: hda: timeout waiting for DMA
Feb 5 16:08:03 enon kernel: hda: irq timeout:
status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest}
This is really annoying to as I have RedHat 6.0 on this
machine without any problems about the dma.
I also have Red Hat 7.1 on this machine.
I would like to any body else experiences this problem.
The relevant lines from dmesg of the potato kernel is
given below.
Unni.
