Red hat 8 looks may disguise
am having (had)lots of troubles with the red hat 8
version. ok i admit that it looks cool
but the first impression didint last. since mp3 was
not working i decided to uninstall xmms and replace
the same with the version which came with 7.3 although
i was able to uninstall the package manager got stuck
when i tried to install the rpm . i thougt that that
rpm might have currepted but it was the same
experience with all the rpm packages i tried . since i
had to print some spreadsheets i left my experiments
with rpms and opened open office i had to wait one and
half minutes to get the calc on my desktop .it cleanly
opened the exel file but then came the problem i
clicked the printer icon but my prienter dint respond
then i tried the printer install but unfortunately my
model (epson lx 300) was not supported by open office
(although it prints the test page of rh printer conf )
igot too bored by all the experiments and i decided
to play a game and clicked chromium it was like a
slide show with crippled sound it was the last thing i
did with the rh8 . i took my rh7.1 installation and
reinstalled it its far better than rh8. red hat once
again proved that their point zero releses are PIA s
