I use GNU/Linux for last 4-5 years. Almost all of my computing tasks are getting done in GNU/Linux. I don't play games which require heavy memory. I have subscribed to lot of mailing lists. Every where I have seen people share their knowledge. There is no teacher or student. A lot of people have helped me in the beginning.
