No,i didnt upgrade my gcc. The exact error was '' The module you are trying to load (/lib/modules/2.4.x/misc/pctel.o) is compiled with a gcc version 2 compiler, while the kernel you are running is compiled with a gcc version 3 compiler. '' I was advised to force insmod (insmod -f pctel and insmod -f ptserial)...i did it and got internet conntn for a few mnutes..and then the system crashed. Thn It does'nt work anymore. > > you have not given enough information in the mail to be more helpful in > this regard, i am afraid. always post which distribution, which kernel, > the name and website of the package which you downloaded etc might go a > long way in getting detailed help. As we have seen over the past several years, we have seen that the growth of the GNU/Linux operating system was moving at a snails pace and even today people are unaware of the benefits of the operating system. So it was decided amonsgst the members that the corporate groups be approached so that funding for setting up an exhibition at the next IT Fair in Cochin and also that in return we would have to find options by which the corporates would be benefited by their investing money into the movement, suggestions from all the members are requested so that we can have all like minded indiviuals who wish to see the growth of the GNU/Linux Community. Further it was decided that a core group be formed who are willing to dedicate some amount of their time for the community in order to approach the corporates and get funding for the community based requirements and also volunteers are required to go about the organisation of the exhibition as well as asure that some of the state of the art machines are sponsored by the distributors, resellers, dealers, and finally when all this is organised, there would have to be another set of volunteers who are willing to man the stalls and willing to demonstrate the features of Linux. Anyway to start of with all members are requested to show the same enthusiasm that is shown on the mailing list, in also attending the meetings that are organised for the benefit of the community. Last but not least a point raised was that it was not possible for one person or a small group of people to do all the work related to the awareness and spreading of Linux, therefore all members are actively encouraged to participate in the awareness drive as well as the meetings. The were the main points discussed in the meeting. This ended the meeting of 29/02/2004 -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm
