Hello KLUG,

I would very much like GNU/Linux to have a unified package format which
could work on all distros and combining the pros of .rpm and .deb with the ease
of use of a .tgz package. It should have a general name and a package manager
which should be able to install source as well as binaries. This would stop
package 'wars' and individual efforts could be combined. I heard that YAST has
also gone Open Source; maybe it would be of help.

If you agree with me, is there anything you/we could do in this
direction? or am I dreaming?
