printtool is a Tk based printer configuration tool (lpr) developed by RedHat. 
It is available in most 
distributions.  
 
If using Debian 
apt-get install printtool

Redhat 9  redhat-config-printer-gui-0.6.47-1.i386.rpm

I do not find any reason for failure in using CUPS.
If you can print from GNU/Linux box things are OK.

I shall try it (CUPS) next sunday.
