Hi
I am a novice in Linux and wanted some help.
I have a WinXP system. I have installed VMware ver4.5.2. Inside VMware, I have
installed Redhat linux 9.0.
I have no idea how to network the linux to the internet. I have a cable
connection with static ip information. Also I need to change the physical
address of the ethernet adapter on the linux OS.
Can anybody help me????
Regards
Peter Paul

Subject: [Mailinglist] Need help in configuring Linux
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Hi Paul
Boot on to linux. Login as root. run the command:
netconfig
give a static ipaddress.
after giving the static ipaddress. restart the network service by giving the
command:
/etc/init.d/network restart or
service network restart
This will assign the ip address for your network card.
Then to get internet connection check out your dns entries in /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 192.168.0.1
Instead of 192.168.0.1 give your dns servers ipaddress provided by your cable
modem providers.
I think this should solve your problem.

Hey,
Well looking at the errors it looks as if its somethign connected with the
memory allocation of the page file or something like that. As far as I know
there are some fine pointer or something related to that and maybe that thing
got corrupted. I am not to sure of the thing. Happy Linuxing.

Subject: [Mailinglist] SARGE CDs
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Hey,
You dont need all the CDs to install SARGE. Just the first CD more than
enough to get teh abse system up and running and maybe the second too if you
need some application libraries. Well the reaming things contain mainly the
advanced features and so unless you are too busy with the kernel developement
and stuffs like that you dont need the last few CDs. Thanks.
