Hi
Schools in Dubai , uses legal software of MS
products , Heavy discount from MS plus the attitude of
the IT guys in the schools
This School ( Gulf Model School ) has to do
LINUX , because it is under SSLC (Kerala board ) ,
since there is an option about the choice of the OS ,
they are sticking to the MS
My experience with IT staff in Dubai Schools
are horrible , they are ignorant about LINUX or
OpenSource , even if they are aware they ask me why to
change , Linux is for developers , it is not stable ,
It is this , 100 reasons they used to put up
But in Industry Linux is coming up
steadily , there is a linux user group , which do has
among 300 members and almost 25-30 active members ,
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dubailug/ , there are
more than 10 companies which specialize in giving
Linux solution, RedHat , SuSE and Mandrake there are
dealers over here , this was not the case few years
back
Also a leading publisher (CPI ) has
started magazine for Linux users , known as Linux
World , things are changing
Here in Industry money may not be a
problem , but some percentage of new young IT
managers are thinking in way , to spend money wisely ,
Surely things are changing here Steadily
Thanks
