Dear Fellow Linuxers, (esp. Debian Gurus)

This months' LFY comes bundled with Debian "Sarge" 3.1r2 DVD. Great as
it seems, I have a doubt regarding the packages.

See this transcript:

dulcinea:~> cd /mnt/cdrom2/dists/sarge/
dulcinea:sarge> egrep -c "^Package:" contrib/binary-i386/Packages
56
dulcinea:sarge> egrep -c "^Package:" main/binary-i386/Packages
6995
dulcinea:sarge> egrep -c "^Package:" main/debian-installer/binary-i386/Packages
146
dulcinea:sarge> bc -q
146+6995+56
7197
quit
dulcinea:sarge> cd ../..
dulcinea:cdrom2> grep -c "pool" md5sum.txt
7197

Hey, is it because it is 3.1r2 that there's only 7197 packages
available? Debian claims to have more than 15500 packages. When
installing from CDs, the packages are spread over 14 CDs! And it takes
(approx.) 2 DVDs. Why is that LFY's version has only 7197 packages?

Do we have to install 3.1r0 and upgrade that to 3.1r2? Or is it a
custom-created Debian DVD by the LFY in-house CD-team? Debian users pls
help. (I did ask the same question to LFY; awaiting their reply).

I'm in an area where I can't "apt-get update" stuff. Because I don't
have Net at home. Dial-up connection is not an option for me either.
Sue me. The DVD is my only source.
