But as you said, Ubuntu is *easily* accessilble to us Indian's (most of whom
are not ready to go out and fetch (read: download and burn) a CD themselves).

Praveen,

*ALL* Linux distros are good for dual core machines.  Experiment with Knoppix
before you buy a machine.  If you've FB enabled, you could see 2 penguins,
which means that 2 CPUs were detected (at least Linux sees 2 cpus).

If you go for some other distro, be sure to install an SMP kernel.  SMP kernels
make full utilization of both cores (_all_ cores, if there's more -- like intel
quad core).

openSUSE installs smp kernel by default, if there's more than one core for the
processor, it automatically detects one and uses it.
