But as you said, Ubuntu is *easily* accessilble to us Indian's (most of whom are not ready to go out and fetch (read: download and burn) a CD themselves). > > > > On 2/15/07, Praveen k.p. <praveenkp at gmail.com> wrote: > > > > Dear All, > > > > which is the best LINUX distro for DUAL CORE machine. where > > can i get it. > > Praveen, *ALL* Linux distros are good for dual core machines. Experiment with Knoppix before you buy a machine. If you've FB enabled, you could see 2 penguins, which means that 2 CPUs were detected (at least Linux sees 2 cpus). If you go for some other distro, be sure to install an SMP kernel. SMP kernels make full utilization of both cores (_all_ cores, if there's more -- like intel quad core). openSUSE installs smp kernel by default, if there's more than one core for the processor, it automatically detects one and uses it. -- Mahesh Aravind ======================================================================== International | Install Linux. | Register yourself at: GNU/Linux user #371671 | Lead a GNU Life! | http://counter.li.org/ ======================================================================== ____________________________________________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
