Hello GNUers,
The Dreamlinux 2.2 bundled with LFY was the 2.2 stable
version; I was confused for a bit of time when it was announced in
Distrowatch ( www.distrowatch.com ) that the Dreamlinux 2.2 beta 3
version was launched yesterday... then found out that actually what was
bundled with LFY was Dreamlinux 2.2 MULTIMEDIA EDITION and what was
launched yesterday was Dreamlinux 2.2 MM GL EDITION BETA 3 ( AIGLX ),
which, I guess must have some GL features extra than the former. (

Anyway, the one bundled with LFY (which I've installed) is a
nice & fast distro, which has it's own share of minor glitches... one is
that the 'Computer' (folder) on the desktop takes a bit of time to load
all the devices, the hard disk partitions and the other removable disk
drives. I don't know why... I think it started when I had renamed the
'Computer' to 'Storage Devices'... but it still exists, after I have
renamed it back to 'Computer'. I've found a work-around for this and is
doing fine, but new users could have an unpleasant time with it (if it
occurs with them) since it takes a while to show all the partitions.
And now I've re-installed it on XFS filesystem and is now booting it from
Grub installed on my OpenSuse partition, which is itself installed on an
XFS filesystem. Now, the booting time have come down to 1 min 10 sec,
which was 1 min 40 sec before with the Ext3 filesystem...
unbelievable..., but it seems true.
So, on overall basis, this is one distro, a Multimedia savvy user should
have in his collection, since it is a live CD and multimedia files could
be easily played while it is on live mode also, even on a modest m/c like
mine, which was/is not possible with live CDs with GNOME/KDE. And it is
also good for system administration, since the Thunar file manager works
also in 'root' a/c in live mode.
