How do we really counter this menace and protect ourselves and others. We have to find an answer to this question, through our discussion as part of the Meeting Agenda. The basic intention of the discussion would be to make people aware of the basic aspect of DRM, why it poses as a threat, and how much it has influenced us and what the community needs to do. We will talk in the context of the Campaigns against DRM by the Free Software Foundation like www.defectivebydesign.org. and www.badvista.org. We will also talk about Operating systems implementing DRM. Technical Presentation : " A tour of the GNOME Desktop " by Sudeep S The presentation will take us through the wonderful world of GNOME(www.gnome.org) , explaining the basic functionality and some advanced features. An introduction to a few basic GNOME applications and applets that can make life better will also be considered. The session would demonstrate the real power and flexibility of the GNOME Desktop Environment and is intended for new users as well as users looking to tweak their desktops.
