Hello All

The worlds first truly Open Mobile Phone OpenMoko FreeRunner has been
released
and is available for purchase (there is a distributor in India as well),
although it is hard on the purse (Rs 20,000).

But what you get for that money, is not some closed hype phone, but
something that
you can hack and modify and change, Indeed you have all the Freedoms,
Because the OpenMoko entirely runs on "Free Software".
Its powered by the GNU/Linux OS .

The phone also has a development version, which ships with a debug
board and screwdrivers. ( The Indian dealer told me it might cost
another 7000 Rs for the debug board)

Indeed openmoko is a learning platform for students and
anyone who wants to learn on a real life embedded platform.

Writing new applications on the phone is the most
exciting part, even maybe implementing the local language
on top of it( I heard some localization project in north india,
based on the phone was in planning).

www.openmoko.com can tell you a whole lot more.
