Are you talking about 'startx'?  Your question is not clear.

Besides, v5.2 is a bit old (pretty much old).  Try and install the lastest 
version. Its smoother, feature-rich, and hassle-free.

Yeah.. that's a M$ link, don't hate me for it. ;)

There's a trick with Win XP CD.  I use to use that.

1) Boot with the CD (yes, the XP CD should be bootable)
2) Get in to ASR console
3) Type C:> fixmbr
4) Type C:> fixboot
5) Type C:> exit
6) Reboot

These should be done after you remove Linux (ext2/3) partitions from the HDD.  
Reformating the partitions, deleting etc are your options.

There are a couple of more "How to remove Linux" links at M$ KB.  There are 
better links on the web.  Google is your friend here. :D
