I feel the real fault is with CUSAT. The protest might have been done in a
democratic way. But there is something else too to it. we have a sponser , and
we use their money to conduct the programme, and we ditch them after getting
money from them. We may not have done that intentionally, i mean we would not
have made them the sponsers if we knew they were attempting to be the sponsers.
But once they are the sponsers, then they ARE THE SPONSERS. They had become the
sponsers through the proper channel. The problem was that the persons dealing
with the event didnt knew whats it all about. Novell or any other company
expects all the event organisers to jointly decide who the sponsers should be
before getting the money. Here what we find is that the information of they
being a sponser was never communicated to all. The communication gap between
the organisers was the actual fault, from what i see from blogs. So as far as
Novell is concerned, we all agreed to have them as sponsers. Now if we start
making problems once they are our sponsers, i somehow feel thats not right.
Thats a less professional side of ours. I do understand that there is a reason
for many to go against Novell.
It would have been better if we tried to ensure that Novell nomore becomes the
sponsers of such events rather than "charging them after cashing them". I would
say the fault lies with CUSAT to blaming Novell.
