First install the build-essential package by typing the following at a terminal
prompt ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal ) :
sudo apt-get install build-essential
You need to do the above only once.
Save your C/CPP program as a simple text file with either a .c or .cpp
extention (say filename.c). I'd recommend the vi editor for this, though you
may use any text editor of your choice.
To compile, start a terminal window and type the following at the prompt:
gcc filename.c -o a.out
The output file will be created in the same directory, so type
./a.out
to run the program.
