Since 2000 there are demands from BSNL employees to empower BSNL itself with
free software platforms and enter software based services.

The stand taken by BSNL was that it is unable to meet the demand for
telephones and hence unable to go for other services.
It is true that the situation has changed now. But BSNL opting for Microsoft
instead of socially owned platforms is against the long term interest of the
people, the nation and BSNL itself. Microsoft systems are inefficient to
the core, though Microsoft is pro-active to the market.

What actually needed was a dynamic and pro-active business management of
BSNL using the socially owned free software platforms for such value added
services.

Instead, what exactly now happens is, Microsoft coming forth with such
services proposals and BSNL blindly taking their service and sharing its
market and revenue with Microsoft.
